About me...
I am an Artist whose practice explores the relationship between place, memory and perception. Working primarily in oil paint on recycled wooden boards coated in jesmonite, I investigate how personal experiences become embedded within familiar landscapes of the North East of England.
Materiality plays a central role in my work. The fractured jesmonite surfaces disrupt the painted image, reflecting the fragmented and reconstructive nature of memory, while the marks and imperfections of reclaimed wood carry their own histories that intertwine with my experience of place.
Influenced by phenomenology, particularly the writings of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, my installations encourage viewers to move around the work, allowing meaning to emerge through embodied perception rather than from a single fixed viewpoint.
Through painting, material and installation, I explore how landscapes continue to exist beyond their physical location—as places that are remembered, experienced and continually re-imagined.
